Application Security
Application security is a set of processes and practices that are meant to protect the application, its data, and code from getting stolen or hijacked. Application security is meant to protect all kinds of applications that are being used in an organization, such as web, desktop, microservices, mobile, and similar others. Just a decade ago, application security was just meant to protect static websites or desktop applications from normal threats. But today, the scope of application security has got very diverse because of the sophisticated software supply chain, including outsourced activities, open-source nature, higher number of applications, the involvement of third parties, etc. Application security is meant to address all the security needs of applications that are used internally in an organization and externally by the customers. Application security setups should be capable to diagnose web-based applications for potential threats, analyze applications working scenarios, and develop the security measures from the time of development of applications to their testing and launch.
